It is characterized by a rash with itchy, scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Recent research has identified the cause of psoriasis to be in the gut and not the skin. Accumulation of harmful toxins in the body for long periods of time induce the detoxifying reaction of the body to occur through the skin, thus, causing psoriasis plaques.
