They are almost always due to muscle spasms. It is similar to &#8220;eyelid spasms&#8221; or &#8220;facial contractions&#8221;, but instead of being able to &#8220;see&#8221; the contraction with the eyes, one hears the contraction as long as the muscles are around the ear or in the ear itself.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Ear clicking noises should not be associated with <a href=\"https:\/\/ent.gr\/en\/tinnitus-hyperacusis\/\">tinnitus<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_most_common_causes_of_these_contractions_are\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\">The most common causes of these contractions are:<\/span><\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_7104\" style=\"width: 249px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7104\" class=\"wp-image-7104 size-full\" title=\"Tinnitus due to Myoclonus of palatal muscles.ent\" src=\"https:\/\/ent.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/%CE%BA%CE%BB%CE%B9%CE%BA.jpg\" alt=\"Tinnitus due to Myoclonus of palatal muscles.ent\" width=\"239\" height=\"211\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7104\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tinnitus due to Myoclonus of palatal muscles<\/p><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Palatal muscles&#8217; Myoclonus, or<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Myoclonus of the stapedial or tensor tympani muscles of the middle ear.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18.6667px;\">Palatal\u00a0<\/span>Myoclonus: is a rare motor disorder characterized by continuous rhythmic movements of the soft palate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Rhythmic movements are accompanied by a rhythmic &#8220;clicking&#8221; sound. Myoclonus of the palate can be due to:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Damage in the <a href=\"https:\/\/pn.bmj.com\/content\/16\/3\/243\">Guillain-Mollaret triangle<\/a> of the brain. In this case, rhythmic contractions are also observed in other muscle groups such as the larynx, tongue, face and diaphragm. The existence of this lesion is usually due to neurodegenerative or demyelinating diseases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Functional psychogenic factors of the patient.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18.6667px;\">Palatal<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18.6667px;\">\u00a0<\/span>Myoclonus can be diagnosed, at EYiasis madical center, by simple pharyngoscopy or endoscopy where\u00a0 visible &#8220;spasms&#8221; of the soft palate will be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Treatment_of_sounds_like_Tinnitus\"><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18pt; font-family: verdana, geneva;\">Treatment of sounds like Tinnitus:<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Treatment of soft palate myoclonus is performed with Clostridium botulinum injections into the contracted muscles.
