A hearing test is almost always needed to identify any condition that involves the auditory system. This should be the first step in an audiological evaluation of hyperacusis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Management_and_Treatment\"><\/span><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva; font-size: 18pt;\">Management and Treatment<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">There hasn&#8217;t been enough research for treatments in the management of hyperacusis.<\/span><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Auditory integration therapy (AIT)<strong>.<\/strong> It&#8217;s often used in autism treatment. It involves listening to music at different volumes for a period every day.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">Medication may help manage the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.satory.gr\/en\/acupuncture-memory-concentration\/5386\/\"> stress<\/a> the condition can cause.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have hyperacusis, you might be tempted to use earplugs to muffle sound or stay away from social situations where there might be the kinds of sounds that bother you. While these can give you short-term relief, they can, over the long-term, make your symptoms worse.
